Holy no oil

Well my bike started sounding funny past couple days and I have been trying to find the time to buy the stuff needed to do the 16k mile service on my bike but time is hard to come by. I never checked the oil on this bike since I bought it the 25th of July. Anyways I just got time and a chance to change the oil in this bike and well I was in for a surprise. This bike requires 3.9 quarts of oil (just shy of 1 gallon). I got 1/2 gallon of oil out of the thing. the dipstick had no oil on it and it was quit dirty. Guy only put just shy of 2k miles on it since he bought it (I am the 3rd owner) and he replaced the oil last fall (thus why I really wanted to get it done). Bike is back to sounding normal but I still gotta find time to finish doing the 16k service lol. So for all you newbies CHECK YOUR OIL EVERYTIME YOU GET GAS. It is habit for me to do so in my van just for some reason I havent been doing it on my bike.

Oh and I forgot to mention the moron must not know how to use a wrench (or the place he took it to) cause the oil bolt has just about all the edges rounded off.

Taking off oil drain bolts with your teeth is tough.

Maybe he took to drinking some to suck in the fluid of manhood that comes with owning a bike?

I think every fill up is too often, every two weeks should be sufficient. Also it depends on the bike. Some just don't burn oil at all, others need to be topped off every now and then.

Also any time you buy a used bike, you should just change the fluids just so you know when it was done. PO could tell you whatever, but how do you know they actually did it. Your bike, your life in your own hands...

good point . From my point of view I dont think the guy ever changed the oil. All well we live and learn . This is actually the first "vehicle" I have ever bought for myself without any help from someone else.

If you did not replace the drain plug with a new one, buy one and at the next oil change replace the old one.
