What is the mark up on new Kawasaki's?

#1 Unread post by flw »

What is the markup or profit for a Kawasaki dealer selling at retail prices?

Also if I pay 100% cash, can I expect some break in price, even if small?

My local dealer is known to sell only at retail but those I know have not paided 100% in cash.

Idea's ? The next closest dealer is 50 miles away.

Its going to vary from model to model. The dealer is going to make more off of some of the bigger bikes than a ninja 250. So there should be more bargaining room on the bigger bike.

If you can get the bike for close to MSRP thats probably a pretty good deal. Around here the dealers add on extra fees for assembling the bike so the price on the tag is at least a few hundred over MSRP.

It just like buying a car there is almost always some room for bargaining. I wouldn't expect to get it for much less than MSRP thouigh.

I think you actually have less pull when paying all cash, as there are no finance charges for them to make.

The trick is to look into their financing and agree on a price and then pay in cash... but you have to be a hell of an operator from what I understand and ballsy enough to have it on you.

Thanks, so I can expect retail at best with assembly included (maybe).

I got my Vulcan 900 out the door with tax/title/setup fees all the jazz for a $100 bucks over MSRP. Most dealers try to make between 5-10% profit on a bike.

I used http://www.cyclebuy.com/ paid 20 bucks for 2 dealer invoice reports that list how much it cost the dealer for the biker versus MSRP.

Depends on how much you are willing to bicker fight and handle, the quality of the shop and other little factors. Also if you are willing to go to several diffrent places.

Many shops want you as a customer. You are going to buy thousands in gears and probably thousands in repairs as well as several bikes over the years. You are also going to recomend people to the place and that itself is a huge money maker. You may trade in your bikes there, go there for your group rides (thats when you grab a new pair of gloves prehaps) and in general you WILL spend moeny at a shop if you like it.

So you tend to have the shop that likes you works with you becuase they see the bigger picture, and the one that just wants to sell the bike. Also some shops will specalize in various things. I went to one that barely had any streetbikes and didn't even look at you if you went to look at a streetbike, but if you wanted a cruser or atv they where all over you.

Just remember its your money, your choice, and there are a lot of motorcycles to be purchused.
