Spark plugs not firing

#1 Unread post by tjbburrow »

There is no fire on the spark plugs. I had the ing. coils checked by the local Honda dealer and they said they were fine. Could the Ign Cont Module have something to do with this? How about the regulate rectifier? And how do you check them to see if they are OK? Thanks

I'm assuming you've tried new plugs?

I've also read that a quick and dirty way of testing for spark is to stick a screw into the terminal and put it CLOSE to the block. Turn her over and look for a spark, that will tell you if your getting voltage down to the plug end. As well.. you might just need to replace the plug wires.

Yeah, It has new plugs. The plug wires and the coils are all one piece. The biggest thing is they were working before I took them to the dealer to be tested, or at least it was starting and running. It was just surging alittle. Someone I work with suggested having them tested, and now low-and-behold they BOTH (coils) don't work. PS nice avatar. :P

Make sure the wires leading to the coils you had tested are still good and connected properly. Wire gets weak and brittle over time and the movement caused by removing/replacing the coils could have created an internal break or short someplace.

Worth a look anyway....
No Witnesses.... :shifty:

Guys, you're not going to believe this. I feel like the town idiot. I was talking with my cousin and he was going over senerios and said it could just be that the kill switch is off. I went to check and sure enough. I never hit it and for some reason I turned it off. I never thought about that because I never touch it. Anywho, thanks for your comments. Maybe the next guy will learn from me. Thanks
