When you first get a used bike from somewhere other than a dealership, what are some areas that might need work? Or areas that might not NEED the work, but wouldn't be a bad idea at all. Tires, Oil, etc?
I know without seeing or hearing about the condition of the bike you can't offer just as much, but anything would be very helpful! Thanks!

+1 on the fluid change. While you're doing that you can look over everything else and get a feel for how well cared for the bike has been.
Examine the tires for ANY cracking that will indicate dry rot (parking the bike in the sun will do it, not just age).

Pick up the service manual for your bike. Should only be ~$15 off eBay, and will show you exactly how to do all sorts of maintenance. Very straightforward.GhostRider wrote:Is there any 'better than the rest' or very well written book/etc that I can learn to do these things from?
