Won't start unless it's in neutral -- what's wrong?

My 1980 Honda CB 750K won't start when it's in any gear other than neutral. I recently replaced the clutch lever and I wonder if I messed up something? I read something about a clutch switch, and I wonder if it's gone bad? Is there some way to test the clutch switch without replacing it? Is it likely there may be another problem?

Figured Out What Was Wrong!

The problem was that the after-market clutch lever is slightly off--just enough so that the clutch switch doesn't fully open when the lever is pulled in. Among other things, the screw hole in the after-market lever is slightly (very slightly) larger than the hole in the original lever; thus, allowing a bit of play in the lever. I guess I'll either get another lever, or take a file to the after-market lever I've got.

If the lever is specific for your bike, I'd contact the shop I bought it from and let them know the situation. Though I hate playing "musical parts" shipping stuff back and forth.

If its an easy fix with a file, go for it. I'm sure I'd do that too
