Good question!
I'm 30. I ride an 03 SV650. I carry min liab and comp (theft and fire) $611 a year in Glendale AZ (suburb of Phnx)

I work for the same ins company that insures my bike so I haven't done any comparison shopping (probably too loyal)
my comp cov is $198 a year so $413 for liab only. Up from $156 a year for liab only on an 04 ZS150 (dual sport chinese bike 150cc)

Phoenix is one of the highest areas for ins costs. NY, NJ, Philly PA some other high insurance paying towns. Cali also high

SV is a good bike to insure (and ride) because it has good performance without paying the premiums for a GSXR or Ninja. For some reason as soon as you put a faring on a bike the premiums sky rocket.

If you live in a major city you are gonna pay more for insurance. If you are a youthful operator; you are probably gonna pay more per year for your insurance than your bike costs.

Wow, what a difference the weather makes! I like in the suburbs of Denver riding the same bike as you almost (2 years older). I manage 575 a year for full coverage. Granted the weather and the auto theft rule most of that difference. But for 21yrs old I am very happy with my rate.
Since you are in the insurance biz, is an 05 650S going to run pretty much the same rate (maybe 5-100 more for the price I pay) you think as an 01?
