Motorcycle touring

I just joined the forum, the first one I've ever joined because I like bikes.
I just bought a used BMW 1150GS and have taken some short trips on it. So far I like it just fine but I've only put on about 2500 miles.

I think I'll leave the first part of June and ride it to Alaska this summer. Never been there. Always wanted to go. From where I live in WV it's about 5000 miles one way.

Just kidding... it's just that what you're planning is a ride I've daydreamed about for a long time. I hope you pull it off and bring back lots of pics for us. You've certainly chosen the perfect bike for it!

Poppy, your daydreams mirror my own. A ride to AK is my greatest riding aspiration. It probably won't happen for many years, though. Welcome aboard, Longrider! It's good to have another experienced rider on board.

Hiya Longrider, Welcome. Wow thats a long ride, good on ya! I can only dream of riding that far. the furthest I've been in 1 day, is form Southern UK to Amsterdam in Holland, and yes I did have a sore butt at the end of journey..............But it was worth it
