Any Catholic bikers?
Dear Fellow Catholic bikers:
I am soon-to-be new rider. Go pick up my "new" 1987 Honda Rebel 450 in a couple of weeks, rescuing it from the in-laws garage where it is in mint, garage-kept condition. Oh, it's going to be awesome...but that's on another forum.
Was wondering if there is a patron saint of motorcycling? Maybe just a general transportation saint? I am a life-long catholic, bu do not know my saints very well. My husband is a new rider too and this will help me to have a friend in heaven to pray to for safety.
Please do not let this turn into a catholic bashing thread of questions of why I pray to saints when I can just pray to God. Yes, I pray to God and Jesus. But I pray to Mary and saints too. It's like having an extra friend to talk to.
May God's angels and the Patron Saint of Biking (whom I sure wears a leather vest over his/her white robe) guide all of your rides!

St Christopher -was- the patron Saint of travel, but some in the church think that Saint Christopher was actually a fictitious character, and he was De-Canonized by the Vatican about 10 yrs ago if I recall.
Most Italians have a sticker of Padre Pio on thier car and some still have the Saint Christopher emblems tho.
The Italian site Santi Beati lsts the patron of Motociclisti as Maria S.ma Madre delle Grazie, s.t. "Madonna di Castellazzo"
(Mary, The Madonna of Castaliazzo or Our Lady of Grace and of Crete)
and Francesca Romana (Frances of Rome) as the patron of motorists in general.
Both are female ... interesting

My dad and I pray for safe rides everytime we go out. I'm not sure if a saint is watching us or not. We're all servants of the most high. So I trust the master of the saints.

I'm going to respect everyone to have their own belief, but this one has always confused me too. You need a go between to get to God. Please tell God I want choclate pudding for dinner. I mean being all powerful and omnipetent you'd think he wouldn't need an answering service. But since it is not my faith, I guess it makes sense it would confuse me. Blessed be.DieMonkeys wrote:Hey, why not go direct to the source and pray to God rather than a saint?
