So I'm looking to buy my first bike, and checked one out yesterday. Here's what I can rememeber:
2001 Suzuki GS500E. Naked/standard.
$2200 price tag
3500-ish miles.
Never been laid down. No scratches/dents/cracks far as I can tell.
After-market handlebar and mirrors.
Exhaust has been drilled. Has about 8 small holes next to the main exhaust, supposed to make it noisier? Bike really wasn't that loud.
New battery.
Old tires. May even be stock. Didn't check the year, but the seller hasn't changed them since he got the bike 3 years ago. Tired looked okay though, and the bike's only seen 3.5k miles.
Can flat foot the bike fine.
Brakes are good. Didn't check brake pad though.
So what do you guys think? I might go back for another checkup, so if there's anything I should look out for, let me know.
2001 Suzuki 500E. Thoughts?
I'd say that's a good deal.
Have a look at it, see what you think, bring it to a dealership to get them to go over it, see what they think.
I think the tires should be fine. The exhaust, I'd see how it sounds. Would probably replace it regardless.

Kind of tough to sell an imaginary bike isn't it?MotoF150 wrote:I can't get $2500 for my 2005 Suzuki M50 plus it has new tires and $600 worth of accessories on it, I didn't drill any holes in my exhaust, my brake pads are like new, the brakes never did work well, maybe thats why they are like new.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

does it run well with that water/alohol mixture in the gas tank that you were talking about?MotoF150 wrote:I can't get $2500 for my 2005 Suzuki M50 plus it has new tires and $600 worth of accessories on it, I didn't drill any holes in my exhaust, my brake pads are like new, the brakes never did work well, maybe thats why they are like new.
