Hesitation at idle & steady low speeds

I have a '90 Gixxer 750 & when I hold the throttle at a steady low speed (1st to 3rd gear), the engine hesitates. This hesitation can also be heard at idle. Once I start to reach higher speeds (40+) I experience no hesitation at all. When I twist the throttle past the hesitation spot, the bike accelerates fine. The plugs are 2 months old.

Any ideas?

you need bigger slow jets.

Or the carbs just need cleaning. Low speed hesitation could be gunk in the carbs idle circuit.
