TROUBLE WITH HOT IDLE

#1 Unread post by capman98 »

I have a 98 springer with an aftermarket s&s card and intake. runs great all the time but if i am in traffic for an extended period of time it seems like it loads up and will eventually shut off. then on restart i have to clear it using the throttle, which everyone in cars around me loves,. now, i am an accomplished car mechanic but my previous bike was fuel injected and i am still trying to figure this thing out. i was thinking a hotter plug but don't want to burs holes in things.. any sugustions??? thanks

Not familiar with the S&S Carb but what about leaning out the idle circuit? Try going a couple of sizes down on the jet or lean the mixture screw out. Sorry, only deal with Mikuni and Keihin carbs

thanks. i have been reading up on the adj. options on the carb so i have some things to try. since the post i put on a new hi-perf. coil, wires and plugs and it seemed to help the burn a little.
