OK guys, I'm considering both. Which would you choose and why - The Suzuki C50 or Vulcan 900?

For me, the Vulcan 900 (in LT trim). Having ridden both, I give the Vulcan a slight edge simply because it's more powerful. To me, the ergos and overall appearance are too close to declare a victor. The nice thing about the C50, though, is the cost of accessories. A 3-piece studded gel seat for the C50 sells for only $215.00, and you can debaffle the pipes very easily for a great sound at very little cost ($40.00 for two hole saws).

Vulcan 900:

1) shaft drive (C50) is my least favorite
2) slight edge in engine power

Vulcan 900
Bigger engine (100cc difference)
Rear Disc Brake (C50 has rear drum)
Belt Drive (Shaft drive on C50) **This is a preference though you may prefer the shaft drive)
Lower seat height (good for shorties)

C-50 is bulletproof and the best selling middleweight cruiser on the market. Nuff said.

Vulcan. Bigger, stronger, and belt drive.

I'd go with the Vulcan 900. It's a newer, fresher design, and like was said before, has a rear disc brake, and the belt drive will transmit more power to the wheel and not cause handling problems.

The Suzuki is a good bike, and a proven design, but the only real advantage is the low maintenance and strength of the shaft drive.

Vulcan! The C50 and the Vulcan is almost the same engine built by the same factory in China, but Kawasaki uses the same fuel injection system they use on their crotch rockets, but Suzuki FI system is a cheap spit type fuel injection causing the C50 to run rich and blow black smoke from the exhaust. I know cause I own a M50 and I was told there was nothing to do about the heavy black smoke from my exhaust cause the design of the FI causes the problem.

I had a 2002 Suzuki Intruder 800 (same engine as the M50/C50, but carburated), and it said "made in Japan" on the engine block.

I've looked at the Vulcan 900, and the engine looks quite different. I didn't pay attention to where the engine was made, but I can't imagine the proud Japanese letting the Chinese make engines for them.
