The 2nd annual "Veterans for Veterans" Motorcycle Freedom Ride Parade Saturday will join the lineup of events honoring veterans, but it will also help raise money to make their days easier.
The ride will begin at the Horseshoe gambling overflow parking lot and will end at the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center on East Stoner Avenue in Shreveport, where music and food will be available.
Staging will begin at 12:30 p.m., with the first motorcycles out at 1 p.m. The route will lead down the Arthur Ray Teague Parkway, over the Jimmie Davis Bridge, up the Clyde Fant Parkway to Stoner Avenue, and then up to the medical center.
Music will be provided by the D’Armond Band and What the Deuce.
A bike show will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, with $5 entry. Classes include Custom, Touring, Cruiser, Sport and Trike. First-place trophies will be awarded.
Ride registration will be at the medical center from 9 a.m. to noon, with $20 entry fees covering the parade, bike show entry, a pin and an event T-shirt. Veterans with proper ID can also receive free flu shots.
All proceeds will benefit Overton Brooks Veteran’s Voluntary Services.
