Camshaft Chain Wear indicated by a Pronounced Curve

#1 Unread post by CB360T »

This is how my Haynes manual says I should check my CB360T cam chain for wear:

"An indication of wear is given by bending the chain sideways across the line of the rollers; if a pronounced curve is formed, the chain is worn and should be renewed."

Here is the curve of my chain; at the center of the curve, it deflects 27/32" from the ends. Is this considered "pronounced"?

Can anyone recommend a source for a new cam chain for a 1976 CB360T engine?

I think the lack of replies means nobody knows, but ill give it a shot.
at this site (http://www.nutmeginn.com/directions.html) it says,

"Continue straight through the light and The Nutmeg inn is 3/4 of a mile
on your right just past a pronounced curve in the road."
and it shows this pic

Chain Issue FYI:

Assuming you have a Honda, go here http://www.didchain.com/honda.htm, find your bike (a CB250 uses the same cam chain as a CB360) and note the chain model number (219T with 92 links in my case).

Go here http://www.staniforths.co.uk/stan_catalogue.htm and download the Chains and Sprockets file; open it and look at page 30.

Then go here http://www.daidocorp.com/catalog.cfm and download the General Catalog (D.I.D Chain Catalog); open it and look at page 62.

Page 30 illustrates the old DID cam chain number (219T) for my bike.

Page 62 illustrates the new DID cam chain number whose dimensions match 219T; that is, RC219H.

There is a wealth of chain info in these files.
