Five Drips Motorcycle Blood Donor Run spokesman Bruce Williams says organisers are persevering with their event designed to recruit more blood donors on December 2, even though a laboratory workers' strike might interfere with their plans.
The run involves an early-morning ride ending up at the blood centre at Palmerston North Hospital from 10am where it's hoped riders will roll up their sleeves and give blood.
"The service have agreed to open up that Saturday for us, but now they are in the same situation as us.
"None of us know whether it will be possible to go ahead as planned."
Blood service national medical director Peter Flanagan said blood collections on site are expected to continue as usual if the strike goes ahead.
At this stage, the Saturday morning opening remains on the centre's calendar.
Mr Williams said if all else fails, the organisers hope the run will be successful in recruiting donors who will give blood at another time.
