Fast Timmy revs up for more success

RACE ace Timmy Hastings has picked up yet another accolade to add to his growing trophy cabinet.

The 14-year-old motorcycle star was presented with a good performance award this month by the Melville Motor Club (MMC) for his outstanding achievements throughout the season.
They included double F125 titles with the 2006 MMC and East Midlands Racing Association championships.
'Twister', from Bonnybridge, also finished second in the KDMC Scottish Championships and fifth in the highly-rated UK-wide MRO Superteens series.
His dad Tony told Heraldsport: "Timmy's had a superb season and the wins have kept him in the limelight.
"He now has a break until March when he will compete in the ACU Star Cup, as well as other championships at club level."
The Denny High School pupil is also taking a huge step up the ranks to compete in two prestigious British Superbike (BSB) 125 support races at Knockhill and Mallory Park on his new GP machine. There he will face much more experienced riders, racing bikes worth up to £250,000, but in the meantime work is underway to find Timmy a major sponsor.
"It's important to keep his profile high," explained Tony. "Racing against the UK's best at the BSBs will also give a good indicator of how good Timmy really is.
"However, the costs of being able to compete with them is often prohibitive and hopefully we will attract more sponsorship soon.
"It is a fantastic opportunity for a motor sport fan to back an up-and-coming talent and get involved at a grassroots level."
