Max was a a TV character... sort of a 1980s thing with sort-of a techno-capitalist twist of George Orwell's book, 1984 (itself based on 1954 communism). There are some early glimpses and ideas that make it a sort of prehistoric version of ideas behind computer-pop-scifi stuff in Matrix...
