NSW police have caught a learner motorcycle rider speeding more than 100km/h over the legal limit in the state's south.

The 19-year-old Sydney man was travelling at 184km/h along the Hume Highway near Tarcutta at about 12.40pm (AEDT) yesterday.

Police were conducting radar speed checks at the time.

Learner motorcycle riders may not travel over 80km/h.

Police issued the man with a court appearance and suspended his licence.
