Motorcycle club to host annual toy run Dec. 9

The Lincoln Iron Horse Motorcycle Club will host its fourth annual Lincoln County Christmas Toy Run from American Legion Post 194 to the Lincoln County Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) on Peachtree Street Saturday, December 9, beginning at 10 a.m.

The toys and proceeds from the event will benefit the foster children in the community.

The streets that comprise the route for the Toy Run will be closed as motorcyclists ride their bikes, piled high with toys and other presents, through town. The toys will then be delivered to the DFCS office with a flourish.

All road-worthy vehicles - motorcycles, pickup trucks, cars, and tractors - are invited to take part in the event. The entry fee is a new toy.

Following the Toy Run, the public is invited to attend a silent auction at the DFCS office. Numerous items, donated by local and area businesses, will be up for bids, including jewelry, gift cards, DVD and MP3 players, tools, blankets, toys, a pre-owned computer, and more.

There will also be door prizes and a 50/50 drawing.

According to Paul Rentz, one of the organizers of the event, motorcyclists and the public at large may drop off unwrapped toys and other gifts at the DFCS office from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. the day of the Toy Run.
