Canadian Scooter Corp. Launches the 2007 Collection of Aprilia and Moto Guzzi Motorcycles to the Canadian Market
Wednesday, December 13, 2006 - CNW Telbec - cnw.ca

TORONTO, Dec. 12 /CNW/ - Canadian Scooter Corp., the exclusive importer
of Aprilia and Moto Guzzi motorcycles, unveils a collection of 2007 models,
including the Aprilia SXV/RXV Supermoto and Enduro Motorcycles, the Moto Guzzi
Breva 750, Norge 1200, and California Vintage motorcycles. Select models in
this collection are now available at authorized Moto Guzzi and Aprilia dealers
across Canada.
"Both brands have an illustrious history and a tremendous reputation for
fine quality craftsmanship and unparalleled design," says Morey Chaplick,
President of Canadian Scooter Corp. "As a result, we are confident that our
collection of Aprilia and Moto Guzzi bikes will appeal to a wide range of
Canadian cycle enthusiasts."
With 26 motorcycling world-championship titles under its belt, Aprilia is
the only European manufacturer to have a full range of products, from 50cc
scooters to 1000cc motorcycles, and the lineage continues with the SXV/RXV.
These bikes are direct descendants of the first-ever production Supermoto and
Enduro motorcycles powered by a superb, high-performance V twin engine.
Already proven winners on the racetracks of Europe, these machines are now
ready to take North America by storm.
Totally reliable on the racetrack, the V2 engine is at the cutting edge
of technology and performance. The Brembo calipers with lightweight wavy discs
provide unrivalled braking control in the most challenging conditions. Other
features include the hybrid perimeter frame, which utilizes the engine as a
stressed member and features a tubular steel trellis structure that's
interference fitted to pressed-aluminum side plates to form an extremely rigid
assembly. Both models are available with 450cc and 550cc displacements. The
MSRP's for the SXV 4.5 and 5.5 are $10,995 and $11,495 while the MSRP's for
the RXV 4.5 and 5.5 are $10,595 and $10,995.
While Aprilia stands out for its racing heritage, the legend of Moto
Guzzi dates back to 1921, when technical geniuses Carlo Guzzi and Giorgio
Parodi built their first motorcycle on the eastern shore of Lake Como in
Italy. Over the years, Moto Guzzi has captured the imagination of cycle
devotees worldwide, and the legend continues with the 2007 collection.
The Breva 750 is beautifully designed and finished, and it stands out for
the soft lines of the anatomical tank, the touch of class provided by the
three-spoke wheels. Its compact size, ergonomic riding position and easy
handling are important characteristics in city traffic, but the Breva 750 is
also a blast to ride on country roads. Riders will enjoy the short wheelbase
with steering geometry designed to facilitate easy handling and rapid
direction changes. The Breva 750 will have an MSRP of $15,995.
Moto Guzzi also introduces the Norge 1200, named in recognition of a
4000 mile test ride from Mandello del Lario to Lapland in Northern Norway.
This bike represents Moto Guzzi's return to Gran Turismo touring, thanks to
its elegant and dynamic design, excellent ergonomics, comfort and short
wheelbase. The Norge 1200 uses a new version of the 90 degree V-twin, this
time at 1200cc and improved to obtain higher torque, creating a smooth and
safe ride on mountain passes and city streets. The bike is also equipped with
a steel frame and a suspension system guaranteeing maximum comfort, even when
carrying a passenger and luggage. Other features include standard ABS which
can be deactivated as desired. As well, the front fairing is integral and
includes leg guards at the front and mudguards at the back to cope with severe
weather. The Norge 1200 will have an MSRP of $19,995.
Finally, 2007 also marks the launch of the new California Vintage, a bike
that has become a cult object even before its market launch. Year after year,
the look and technology have been updated, without altering its personality
and spirit. The seat, as comfortable as an armchair, enables you to enjoy the
landscape protected from the wind in the shelter of the large windshield. The
reference to the past is obvious in the delightful spoked wheels and the newly
designed steel mudguards. The engine has been almost entirely imported from
the Breva 1100, with a considerable improvement in performance creating a more
powerful and easier riding experience. The California Vintage will have an
MSRP of $18,995.

The Toronto-based Canadian Scooter Corp. is the exclusive importer and
distributor of new Vespa, Piaggio, Moto Guzzi, Derbi and Aprilia motor
