Stupid.
I hope the judge throws out her case and offers to help her find a shirt and tie for her son's senior photo.
In my HS no way could I have pulled a stunt like that and expected it to be put in the yearbook.

yeah that is pretty funny! his sword and chain mail look cool, and the whole medieval thing is at least in interesting hobby.
I met a guy who was into doing these medieval reinactments and such. he was an alright guy, perfectly productive member of society (web-developer) and he was open and enthusiastic about his hobby. seemed like an ok guy. i prefer odd over much of what else is out there. normal = pretty boring and pretty square much of the time.
the lawsuit may seem a little overkill, but hey, if we all put out little stand for freedom then we get a little more at a time. there's nothing wrong with what the guy is doing, nor with the mother. she's protecting her son's right to dress and present himself in his own way...

If guidelines where set out before he submitted the picture then he doesn't get to put it in the Yearbook. The policy applies to everyone at the school. Where do you draw the line? If they win the lawsuit what's next? A kid with a semi-automatic rifle or handgun saying it's OK because I belong to a theatrical group that carries out re-enactments terrorist incidents or multiple murders that have occurred in recent history.
I hope the Judge finds in favor of the School.

My rights! My freedom! yeah well that's all great and dandy, but freedom isn't free, and all rights and no courtesy makes you a big fat robot.

He's a tank. I could 'ave 'im... Especially if is trying to use that claymore...
To be fair the policy seems to be inconsistant, you can have a weapon in one part of the yearbook but not another - that needs addressing.
On the other hand there is nothing stopping him from submitting a picture in full kit but without the weapons.

School is publishing it with their funds, so their rules. As for the kid, I'd like to pimp smack some sense into his mom. No one is forcing them to buy the yearbook. I always thought yearbooks were useless anyways.
Lenny: Hey George I want a dog.
George: Shut up Lenny, you're too stupid for a dog.
Lenny: At least I'm not an @ssoff.

Same here, i've never owned one, but to some, it has great sentimental value. I can see why his mom is sueing, the school is inconsistant with their rules; like they made it up off the top of their head.asiantay wrote:School is publishing it with their funds, so their rules. Your totally right!Shorts wrote:Seems to me everyone is missing the point. Everybody regrets the pictures they have in any yearbook (OMgawd! Look at my hair!). He'll totally look back that that pic when he's 25 and wonder what the hell he was thinking!

One time i forgot to do my hair, late for school, youknow the whole thing... Well i just made it the rattiest possible, like i actually meant to do it like that. Now i have a permanent pic in the yearbook with afro hair.
Good thing I won't see anyone from my school anymore now that i'm doing running start at Greenriver Community college! haHA!!
