Need help finding gear for a '78 Honda CB400TII

#1 Unread post by Andy G »

I'm looking for a windshield/windscreen as well as luggage for my '78 Honda CB400TII Hawk.

Nothing super fancy...just something to make short touring a bit easier with.

Anyone have any specific suggestions and/or locations to get the stuff at?

Thanks.

honda didn't make any hard bags for the early cb400's. It's either soft bags or make your own custom hard bags.
However there is a rear rack for it, but it's too rare and I've never seen one.

look on
Ebay.com
Bikebandit.com
and.. thats about it.

My first bike back in 84 was a 81 CB400T and I put a Plexi 2 type windshield on it and have used that type mostly since then. National cycle makes the Plexi 2 and many other shields to fit your bike:

You can get them from Dennis Kirk as suggested or from MAW or Chaparral and many other places.

Now I generally put on my Plexi 2 for winter and a Spitfire for summer, a smaller shield like the NC deflector screen.

I used a tank bag for years but got a Givi rear case a couple years ago and it's great, competely waterproof and it locks. If you have a tubular luggage rack or can find or make one you can mount a Givi Monolock case to it with the base plate that comes with it. It's their lower cost light weight case.

After 350,000 miles of riding I still ride a bike the size of yours, put the last 120k miles on a couple GS500's.

Summer with Spitfire:

Winter (best in heavy rain too) with Plexi 2:
