Found a good starter bike.

ok I found a good starter bike... 2000 Honda Shadow 750 ace for $3500.. any comments? I'm 5'9" 260lbs yes know i'm fat...taking my basic riders coarse next month. it has 11275 miles on it.

well, IMO i think its not too bad for a beginner, I just looked up the horsepower on a 2000 shadow 750 and it has 36 horsepower.

A ninja250 has around 36 horsepower too and people around here say its enough to carry 300+ pounds.

As long as its in good condition, it will be great. That cruiser is light enough for a new rider to deal with.

nope never riden before..i'll be riding in my nieghborhood til i get the hang of it then little by little i'll venture out.I take the basic rider coarse next month at the community collage.

nope never riden before..i'll be riding in my nieghborhood til i get the hang of it then little by little i'll venture out.I take the basic rider coarse next month at the community collage.

Find some parking lots, keep at least 50 feet from a solid object and practice that until you feel proficient, then practice some more. Then hit the neighborhood.

From my experience, neighborhoods have too many kids, dogs, cats and other crushable things that I'd hate to have my motorcycle fall on. Blood is so hard to get out of scratches on chrome.

Also, to note, the horsepower may be the same as the ninja 250.. but look at the torque. It's a different engine with more power and different characteristics. It should be more than adaquite for a first bike
