As long as the bike does what you want it to do and you are having fun, who cares?

It does give us something to argue about.
I would be the old, slow guy. Just let me know where you are going and I'll try to get there before you leave.

I wouldn't call them riders. In my mind riders buy or ride bikes to take pleasure in the joys of 2 wheeled wandering. Anyone that insults other bikes is looking for something else.

It's human nature

People do it with cars too,

Some guys have got to find their niche and want to identify with an owners group. Some people are bery brand conscious. I have never looked at stuff like that..... but a lot of guys do. I hate to slam HD owners, but they are the most brand conscious of any motorcycle owners out there. Its very important to them. BTW: I have several friends who ride HD and have ridden with HD dominated groups... They are great people .... but they do have this singular focus on All Things Harley.

Taking pride in our brands

#5 Unread post by panzer88 »

its like most riders though weather it be harley or yamaha whatever we own we are going to want to talk about that brand alot in order to gain as much info as we can from all others who ride the same. And i must disagree. where i am from there are alot of sportbike riders who are extremley arrogant in there talk.BUt there is people like that in all groups.
But id say over all the reason we talk more about one bike brand is because that is what we own and are intrested in. Whatever we choose it must be righ for us. :spot:

Friends of mine who ride Harleys are, like was said before, "all things Harley". But on the other hand, I have friends who think anything other than a sportbike should just be thrown into a landfill... Personally, I'd like to ride one of every kind of bike, just to find out the differences...

There are a-holes in every crowd. Everyone has their preference of bike, but to put down other people's choice of ride goes against the true spirit of riding.

From this thread and the private message I got from you, I gather I struck a nerve with my post about you having something against Harleys.

The funny thing is, your first post referred to there not being any true standards, only 'crotch rockets and harley wannabes'.

So on one hand you're calling bikes bad names, and in this thread you're saying that people shouldn't worry about what kind of bikes others ride.

I think it's just human nature to want to feel as if you belong to a group, and some people need to feel superior to others just to feel OK about themselves.

If someone is trying to one up you with how their bike is better than yours because it's a __________(fill in the blank), just smile and agree with them. They usually get all confused if you do that, and you will feel good that you gave them a little free psychotherapy.
