Starter Problems

#1 Unread post by nonshot »

Recently after riding the whole freezing winter my cranking power seemed to start going downhill. About four rides ago is when i started noticing it. It started as a slower cranking speed, and every time after that it got worse and worse. Now all that happens is a clicking in my starter relay. My battery is just fine and all terminals are clean.

What is the resting voltage on the battery, and what is the cranking voltage?

How do you know the battery is fine?

The alternate is that you're going to have to replace the starter, so I'd check the battery first....
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

+1 and if the battery is fine, then go check your connections at the starter.
