Plastic renew on windshield???
So the VFR that I picked up on ebay last fall is suffering from hazy windshield. Has anyone had any luck using plastic renew on plastic windscreens to restore the clarity?

Re: Plastic renew on windshield???
I've never tried it on windscreens... but on other clear plastics like a cars headlight housing... it really does work.High_Side wrote:So the VFR that I picked up on ebay last fall is suffering from hazy windhield. but I think that method would cause visual distortion.

Funny you should mention Plasic-X. I just used it this morning and it works great. This windshield was really far gone, and now it's better than 90%. Great advice Blues

Before spending your bucks on a high-tech plastic refinish, have you tried going the cheap and simple route? Lemon Pledge.
My windshield (Plexifairing III) was scratched up pretty thoroughly when a (not so) helpful helper decided that the bugs would come off easier with one of those plastic scrubbers. By the time I noticed, he'd done the entire front of the winshield. It looked bad. As a last resort, before buying a new one, I decided to try some Pledge, since it had worked at hiding scratches on my plane's plexi. It worked great. The windshield that I was about to toss out, looks just fine after a thorough coating of Pledge. I have to reapply every 4-6 weeks, but it beats shelling out bucks for new plastic.

I'm always thinking about taking the cheap route....I just wasn't aware of any! I'll see how long the $6 worth of Plaxtic-X will take me though and post up here if I remember.flynrider wrote:Before spending your bucks on a high-tech plastic refinish, have you tried going the cheap and simple route?
