off to work

#1 Unread post by PatArmyRet »

Today was the first day I used the bike for my commute...didn't think commuting could be so enjoyable, even with the traffic. :o

I've been out of MSF for a couple of weeks, going a little further every day, a little faster, and on busier streets.

Having the basics is a big help. When I make a mistake, which is inevitable, I mentally kick myself...slow look press and roll. Both brakes. Look up! Turn the darn turn signal OFF. :D

I want to put my truck in storage until Fall rolls around. On second thought, maybe not Fall, perhaps when Winter sets in.

Dyin'? Boy, he can have this little life any time he wants to. Do ya hear that? Are ya hearin' it? Come on. You're welcome to it, ol' timer. Let me know you're up there. Come on. Love me, hate me, kill me, anything. Just let me know it.

lol I can only ride to work. very rarely do I get a chance to ride at times other than to and from work thanks to 4 kids and a wife. Plus it makes for good convo at the gas pump when you go and only spend $6 instead of $70 :D.

Yer right, it'd probably be more. the oil consortiums would just produce less barrels per year and charge more instead. Its all about the price the market can sustain, not the actual amount used :frusty: Welcome to capitalism

I haven't had that urge yet because the morning ride's a bit nipply at about 50 degrees. I just eagerly await the ride home when it will be beautiful out. When it really gets to be summer and it's 70ish in the morning I might have this problem :)

Congratulations, and enjoy the commute!

I love riding to work. Even though the ride itself isn't that great in my case (a freeway drone followed by urban gridlock), the whole focused, visceral experience of a bike ride is a great way to start and end a day.

Plus, if you're a newbie like me, it's pretty satisfying to feel your skills getting a bit smoother, a bit more refined each day, instead of feeling like you have to learn things all over again if you only ride on the weekends.
