Hey all, I'm new to this website though I was a member of the great (but now gone) BeginnerBikes.com....

Hoping to find a used EX250 or GS500 to start out on. Took my MSF course last summer and ever since been VERY eager to get on my own bike and ride.

Now that it's getting warmer up here in Vermont the bike bug is growing with each passing motorcycle I see.

Hope to be posting intelligently soon and riding sooner

By the way, Nalian.... your videos are great but they are not helping the bug (but keep them up, its second best to actually riding)....

Welcome to the TMW community. I remember the Beginnerbikes forums. It was a good one.

to the TMW community! I also remember BeginnerBikes and when they closed down many of the members from that forum found a welcoming home here at Total Motorcycle. I'm sure we'll do you proud to be a member of TMW too.

Either the Ninja250R (EX250), Ninja 500R (EX500), or GS500E/F make great first bikes. If your looking at cruisers you'll find anything 650cc V-Twin or under a nice bike too. Smart bike selections and smart learning curve too starting off with the MSF course!

As I mentioned to another new rider today, take a look at the Total Motorcycle Beginners Guide: http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/school.htm if you have some free time to read. It's a good.

Once you get your MSF course down and get yourself a motorcycle it won't matter the temperature outside, you'll want to ride.

all of those bikes interest me but something that has stuck in my mind is that I don't want a new bike with a lot of pretty fairing as my first bike because of higher chance of damaging it as a new rider. That and I'd rather not spend extra cash on the brand new bike registration/insurance stuff....

Yes, buy used. All those bikes have been made for more than 10 years so LOTS of great selection out there.

You wanted a standard/sport then I'm guessing?

Hello and welcome. Thanks for the encouragement! Your location is absolutely awesome for riding - a lot of the MA riders I run into consider vermont to be like the holy grail of great riding in the northeast.

Once you're up and running we'll have to meet up and hit some roads!

Yes, I am more interested in a sport-class bike. I like the feeling of being oriented forward more (I've sat on a few bikes at local dealers to get a feel for what fits me).

They are absolutely correct, even with just a car, most of the roads here are fabulous, not only twisty but scenic. A leisurely drive up and down the coast of Lake Champlain is a great experience. Thats not even mentioning the abundance of mountain roads we have (the Notch in particular).

Hello and welcome! I predict you will be very happy when you get your bike. There should be lots of selection out there for those bikes so keep your eyes peeled. Let us know when you've successfully found one!
