lowered motorcycle

#1 Unread post by day1yun »

Hey guys,

I'm thinking of purchasing a 04 yamaha r6 that has been lowered. I plan on raising it back up to stock height but I'm worried there may be issues with a bike that was previously lowered. Are there any issues with bikes that have been lowered in the past? The rear was lowered by using a different dogbone link and the front was lowered by adjusting something in the front. The owner said no permanent alterations were made.

Lowering will reduce the cornering and "bump" clearance. So there may be some scrapes on the lower fairing that might have occurred due to it hitting something. Other then that, so long as the forks themselves weren't cut to make it lower I cannot think of any issues except the possibility that the shock hit the swingarm or something. Just look for anything that might have been an impact.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
