i'm trying to take off the smog canister because it scrapes alot...
FYI, only cali models have this canister.
so assuming that i got the numbering right...
connect #7 to the left side of the censor? (replace it with #8 ) and just take everything else off?
...so the fuel vapor from the gas tank will to directly to the censor (without going the can) and the censor will forward it to the throttle body?
am i missing something, or will this work? ...i just wanna be sure before i actually do it.
PS....wat does the "EVAP PURGE SONLENOID VALVE" do? someone told me NOT to take that off.

You are playing with fire....literally. The Tank vents into the cannister. The cannister has activated charcoal that absorbs the gas fumes. The purge valve opens only under certain conditions and draws the collected vapors out of the cannister and charcoal. If you leave the hose open to atmosphere, you may have explosive vapors collect around the bike.
There is no performance loss with this system.
If the cannister is scraping, you might do better to find a place where the cannister doesn't scrape and just use longer hoses.
If you connect the vent line (#7) directly to the purge valve, your tank will be un-vented when the purge valve is closed. When the valve opens, engine vacuum will probably collapse the fuel tank.

thx for ur input.
good thing started this thread be4 actually attempting to connect #7 to the purge valve
is there a right way to remove the can?
p.s. this other guy once told me to "hose one pipe to the other and cap off the other one"....i forget exactly wat he said....does that make any sense to u?

That may work. You need an airfilter at the end of the "new" tube. When the purge valve opens, it pulls in air into the engine.
You may has a gas fume issue especially when the bike is parked. Normally, the cannister absorbs the fumes.
If you don't break anything, you can always restore it to stock.
Where is the cannister mounted that it scrapes the ground?

by "new", are u referring to he one that says "fresh air" ?
and its located at the bottom of the bike, around where the headers connects to the muffler...its about 2-3 inches lower than the headers.
