^^^ +1, I'm sure it saved me from about 5-6 drops so far... I knew how to correct for them and I knew what to do to avoid them next time...

Mega dittos to the above. I took it in April and paid top dollar to get in a class earlier, rather than later. I was fully qualified to ride around a parking lot on a Honda Rebel 250 (in the rain) when it was over. :)

All kidding aside, the course range exercises are based on the Hurt Study http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/Motorcycle- ... ummary.htm, and is a great way to learn basic skills.

I still needed practice (and I am still learning), but I wouldn't have started any other way.

my two cents, your mileage may vary...
:D

Rider's Edge

#6 Unread post by drodd8 »

I am taking the HD Rider's Edge course this weekend and it is awesome. I haven't ridden a street bike before but have lots of dirt bike experience. I can't imagine just hitting the road without some idea of what to do. The RE course uses the MSF teaching method and materials, and from what I have gained in the last three days, it was well worth the money. Enjoy it and let me know how it worked out for you. :D

Take the Course!!!

Don't even think about it. The instructors are nice people and good teachers. The driving test they do is straight forward and passable, unlike the DMV test in Calif. You learn a lot and they teach basic skills.

In Colorado I have found several different schools and all of them price their basic rider course around $200-$300. I found a few schools for $250. It could be more or less in Wisconsin, but it's definitely affordable.

The RE course from HD cost me $350. They throw in some breakfast and lunch, and you get a 10% discount on HD Motorclothes when you take it. The state of GA will do it for $280 I think. For me it was money well spent, and many insurance companies will give you a discount for taking it. Good luck.
