Finished my MSF course today!!!

#1 Unread post by Derail »

It was the most fun I've ever had learning something. The instructors were really helpful, although it felt like they had it out for me. I had to go first for every single exercise. It was kinda cool being the leader though since i was the youngest one in my class. I go tomorrow to get my license endorsed. I still don't have a bike but I'm on my way to saving up :)

18 there was only 2 of us under 21, which exempts us from the 1 day free bike rental :( but i hope to have my own bike soon so i can join my parents on the road, they are probably almost as excited as me. They gave me a card with 300$ towards my bike/gear before I even knew if i passed. I only got 3 points off in the final test(i went outside the box on my figure 8 ><)
I was hoping to start out on a gsxr600 but the gear i picked out is kind of expensive which is more important so I'm starting to look into a 250 or 500ninja

Congrats on completing the MSF! I think the 250 or 500 Ninja would be a wise choice for a first bike. The modern 600 supersports tend to be a bit on the "too much" side for most beginners. Keep us posted and let us know what you get. And welcome to TMW! 8)

:welcome5: and congratulations. It is so cool that your parents are supporting you through this...they can help you through all of your newbie mistakes. Yeah, the Ninjas are great starter bike, I had the EX500 until recently and honestly think I could'nt have started on a better bike. Kind of miss it actually :bye:
Have fun and be careful out there.

Good thinking there. Better to own the bike rather than some bank owning you. Plus you save money on insurance.

I suggest joining the AMA as well, save money on insurance along with your MSF discount if you go through Sentry Insurance.

Also, newenough.com has some good gear if you need more.

"Motorcycle Also" :) I hate the DMV! but this time it was worth it. Thanks for the advice any money i can save on gear will help. I may not have to buy a bike at all my dad is working on a custom chopper than will be mine on completion(its a few years in the making though). For now i'll just be practicing on enduros and any bikes my friends and parents will let me ride around the neighboorhood. I'm visiting my dad in WV and the roads here are so temping I wish I had my own bike, its a lot different from the square grid of roadways in FL.

the 650R belongs to the guy renting the apartment above my dads garage. I don't think anything on it is stock though it looks nothing like a 650R. I haven't seen it in action yet though he gets his new back tire tomorrow and his old one was down to the tread haha i can't believe he was riding on it
