Bar-end mirrors

#1 Unread post by Hatch »

Anyone switch to bar-ends? Looking at some now, wondering if the more expensive ones are worth the difference in price vs something like this?

$24 a pair vs $140+ a pair

The cheap ones tend to vibrate like crazy rendering them useless. They also fall apart on occasion.

As always, you get what you pay for.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Actually I have been using "cheap" bar ends for years... mine were actually made for bicycles.... they don't vibrate much at all and work great. http://www.amazon.com/Mirror-Third-Eye- ... 718&sr=8-2

For a while I really wanted bar end mirrors but then I realized it would ruin my lane splitting abilities.

If you get the good ones you can leave nice scrapes down the cars you split past and not damage the mirrors at all... :D

Or you can spend massive amounts of money on the LS hindsights, which fold up if they tap something, and pivot back out.

I bought cheapo bicycle convex mirrors at kmart - a little modification and they work pretty good.

But since i want to get rid of the antler oem mirrors on my gs 500 suzuki, i ordered napolean bar end mirrors from bike bandit . com. Haven't put them on yet, but they seem high quality (made in japan) - remains to be seen how securely they will mount to the bars.
