I finally got a bike.

#1 Unread post by Apollofrost »

So anyways I got a bike, a used 2007 KLR650 and ended up riding it to my uncle's place a few miles away. I was scared at first and uneasy about spending the cash but once I got on the bike all of those doubts just faded away and I couldn't help but smile. It wasn't quite an ear to ear grin, but that's just because my cheek pads hadn't quite been broken in yet.

I was kinda disapointed when I got back to my uncle's place, I really wanted to keep going but I figured it would be a good idea to pick up a jacket first and get the bike insured. But I did get to go dirtbike riding and that was hella fun. I rode around the track and fell over in the sand a few times but all I got was a bruise on my shin, the bike he lent me was fine.

So all and all I had a lot of fun and when I came home I had a quote stuck in my head and I wish I knew who said it first.

"Only a motorcyclist knows why a dog sticks his head out the window."

Me, I think it's because he knows a good thing when he sees one.

PS: I picked up a joe rocket Kawasaki road racing jacket in black with white lettering today. I put it on and kept going "Please don't fit, please don't fit, please don't fit." but it did, better than anything else I had tried, so I had to buy it. At least it's a nice jacket.

How much was it? I hear that the 2008 KLRs are even better and are only $150 more for it brand new compared to the 2007 models but since you got a used one the price difference may be greater.

Bigger brake rotors are usually on the top of the upgrades list for the older KLRs.

Anyway congrats on the new ride!

I got mine for a few hundred under blue book used so I don't mind having a 2007. I can always upgrade later if it suits me. Right now price is my major concern.

May I suggest Sentry Insurance?

I got a better deal from them than from any of the big companies.
