I am looking to get an R1200R in about a 1 1/2 years . I need some more experience on my F650GS first.

I love my Rockster. But I must say that after test riding an R1200R. I was smitten.

Such a sexy bike.

And I LOVE the pearly silver/gray that it was introduced in.

That is the color I want - it makes me all.... . Have you posted your impressions of the R1200R somewhere? I would love to read your review.

No. I didn't... I'm trying not to think about it too much. Still making payments on Gryndl.

But on the other hand, hubby is seriously thinking about getting one. He's in the market to upgrade from his '94 R1100RS.

Mostly, it is much LIGHTER than the 1150, with the new alloys, and plastic gas tank (mine's steel). And as a result much more responsive and smooooth. Less 'wiggle' than on previous boxers. There's a 'balancing weight' of some sort that dampens the side to side wiggle at throttle on.

The newer BMWs do not have all the slick design features, like semi-integrated brake fluid reservoirs. The 1200s have those mundane little round cannisters like on every UJM.

On my bike, they're kinda built into the handgrip. Looks spiffy, but doesn't improve performance at all.

- yea I know "premature" bike lust well! I have read nothing but good things about the R1200R and am looking forward to the day when I am experienced enough to upgrade - I am on the cautious side of upgrading. Especially since the R1200R is going to be nothing like the F650GS. Right now the GS is treating me well and letting me learn at my own pace.

My dream BMW is sitting in the shed. Maybe one day I will even find time to get some work done on it. 1960 R69S w/US package.


some old paperwork on it said 1960 but it's a 61
