No ridding until late September

I called to sign up for the MSF class in my area and the next opening they have is in late September

. I asked if there was a waiting list incase some one cancels, and the girl said "yes but there are already a lot of people on the list". My question is, how do walk-ins work? Do I pay the fee right on the spot in cash or something? Or is it waived because the person decided not to show up, and already paid?

I am sure you'll have to pay, at least here in WA you do! Do they have a more expensive option? For example, in WA the subsidized class costs $100 but it is very hard to get in as everyone wants it. If one is willing to pay, the same class but fully paid by the student would cost $275. That might be an option for you if it works the same in AZ!

I was shocked the classes in my state are filled, FOR THE WHOLE YEAR.

I can't believe they know there is this much popularity in learning to ride, and they don't offer enough sections to meet demand.

Maybe I'll just ride without the right classification on my license. If I ever get pulled over, I'll claim ignorance. I have not had a ticket in 6 years, maybe more. I doubt I'd get more than a warning.

wow i didnt know its gotten that popular around here. the team arizona in mesa is very good though its were i went. maybe try the harley riding schools they cost more but may have openings? not sure where in Az you are, but call around different places even if you have to drive way out of your way or even make it a weekend get away some where, its better than waiting 4 months.

as for the walk ins you just have to show up and hope that someone else doesnt or they are late. i had one guy come 10 minutes late on the second day they sent him home no questions cause the class already started and he missed out on some info. kind of sucks having to go there and stand around hoping for a no show though.

riding with no license will usually get you in enough trouble. your insurance wont cover you for one so in an accident your screwed. if you do get pulled over its a heavy ticket then add on no inusrance(cause its not valid). the cop might tell you that you cant ride home and need to leave your vehicle. ive seen that happen before.

i also knew a guy who had one of those really small scooter/moped style bikes(lawn mower). it was his only mode of transportation and he was riding it in a bike lane and got pulled over. heavy heavy tickets for that poor kid cause he wasnt licensed or insured(amongst other violations) and was made to push it home.

I live in the Tucson area, its a good sized city/town so there has to be more than the one class

I was in the same boat with waiting until September. I went in to the center on Tuesday and Wednesday night last week as a standby and waited. Didn't get in on Tuesday but I did Wednesday. There were 7 no shows for the class and 8 standbys. I finish the class on Sunday.

Give it a try. I didn't have to signup for a waiting list. Here in Ohio it was show up and if there are any no shows they raffle off the openings to those that showed up to standby. I paid my $25 during the class.

Is there another outfit besides the MSF that offers the same type of course? I'm in MN and the MSF courses are booked up until mid july, if you want weekend classes, but the weekdays are open a little sooner.

Anyways, I was hooked up through the dealership when I bought my bike for some info regarding another outfit that provides the same courses as the MSF. It's called total rider. Don't know if they operate anywhere else, but I was able to get in next week with them.

call around the phoenix area, theres the teamarizona in mesa i think they have openings. and the harley sponsord class in scottsdale im sure has openings. drive up on the weekend and just stay.
