No voltage from pickup coil!?! 99 ZX6-R

#1 Unread post by mahoney »

The resistance is within spec on the pickup coil and the air gap between it and the rotor is within spec. I'm supposed to have 3.8volts for 5 seconds when cranking motor from p-up coil, I have none. :frusty:

Could the rotor on the crank be bad?

Everything else on the bike tests out within spec.(Switches, fuses, coils, plug wires, etc.)

I doubt the rotor is bad, no experience with your particular bike, but rotors generally just spin and trigger the pick-up, if it is there, it should be working.

So that would point to the pick-up itself if everything else checks out. You may want to double check any ground straps/wires just to be sure....
No Witnesses.... :shifty:

The pickup coil assembly is new from Kawi. I replaced it because I got no voltage from the old one. They both read within spec on resistance.
