New rider in the northwest

#1 Unread post by Deryck »

Hey everyone,

After having fantasies of motorcycle rides for I have no idea how long, and enough prodding from friends, I finally took the plunge! I live in Oregon, so I took the Team Oregon beginner class, and I learned more than I thought was possible; I've noticed that some of the information they taught is even extremely helping while driving a "cage."

I now have my own bike as well. After tirelessly searching craigslist for a good deal, I decided on a 1981 suzuki gn400. Problems: Bad headlight, bad rear turn signals, possible bad throttle cable. Good: man, is it a beauty, in my eyes at least. It was also pretty cheap, which is always good on a students budget. Ran very well on the test drive.

Well, I don't want to drag this post on any more than I have to. Hoepfully I'll hear from some fellow GN riders since they seem to be so rare, and maybe some others from the Pacific northwest. Good riding!

Here are some pictures of my bike. I hope the pretty model I used doesn't distract any one too badly

Haha, I take pride in both of them, so I appreciate the comment :) If you ever make it down the 5 through Salem, you'll have to promise to at least gas up at my station haha. Thanks for the welcome!

Sounds like a promise I can keep. Unfortunately, it has been a very long time since I have been that far south on 5. It'll happen again though.

Welcome. Happy riding (pun intended).

Thanks for the welcome. I definitely agree about my state :) I haven't spent much time in your province, but from what I have, it's very beautiful, and seems very nice...I've always wanted to visit there more!
