I am English but have lived in France for 14 years - not just because the roads are better with far less traffic and the sun shines here more often -but it all helps. I have been a BMW owner for around 30 years and currently run a 12OOGS - it is three years old, 15000kms. and I would happily exchange it tomorrow IF there was a better bike on the market. However living just off the beaten track, but not far from the autoroute I need what the French call 'polyvalence' - that is the ability to perform in different conditions.
We do see Americans here in our (VERY OLD) town of Vienne, often visiting by cruise ships on the River Rhône; There are also plenty here spectating AND performing at our annual Jazz festival in June/JUly.

Thank you
Thanks for the welcome; I will have to read some more on your forum before I go any further; No, Corsaire, I agree that I don't seem to cover many kilometres a year (5,000) but that is about average I am told and I expect you are (quite a lot) younger than I. You see we seem to have arrived where we want to be and the bike is simply my eveeryday form of transport to the town of Vienne and the big city of Lyon. Let me know if you are passing.

I like to think that the rider helps the bike perform in different conditions

If you can see the tops of the mountain's it's going to rain.
If you can't - it's raining.
All Characters and events here are allegedly fictitious...Any resemblance with either dead or living is purely co-incidental
And don't ride faster than your Guardian Angel can fly
