Before:

A true 30 footer in the paint department. Runny thick black paint everywhere. The spare tank for the project was from a different year and needed mods to the filler area for the cap to fit. And there was actually grass in the paint on it!
Here's a shot of some parts after the clearcoat was wet sanded and buffed with the first compound.
Here's a tank closeup..bottom half not buffed, but still pretty good after wetsand with 1500 grit.
You can see the front wheel of his truck and me backlit by the sunlight. The reflections on the right are his vulcan 500, and you can see the grass, too. The other peices will be the same level of gloss, and already look good after the initial buffing.

Here's a pic of the early stages of paint. He shot gold metallic, then candy red. This is before the gunmetal gray fade between the red coats:
Here's the front faring and all the bodywork he did to fit cbr 954 mirrors to it. Everything from the mirror mounting hole area to the headlight opening is reshaped:
And heres a shot showing the completed paint scheme, except for the front fender and faring. This is after the first buffing compound. Everything is wet sanded with 1500 prior to buffing, not to say other grits weren't used before that:

Oooh, oooh...
If you're taking requests...
How about I mail you my full-face helmet, and a chunk of wood with a sample color on it, and you can custom paint it for me? Huh? Huh?
That'd be awesome!

Thanks, guys! We're still experimenting with photographing these pieces. The glare is a problem in most lighting, and doesn't allow the camera to do it justice. Any flash just wipes out the area when it bounces off the metal flakes a few layers down below the candy and clear coats. Direct sunlight does it, too. That's why I'm casting a shadow over the tank...it's the only way I've been able to capture the gloss at all. Not to complain, I guess there are worse paint problem to have! (see first photo
