More oil questions..... With a twist....!

#1 Unread post by Jadien »

So I'm getting tired of buying oil by the quart at expensive dealerships or Checker/Auto Zone. But, after an extremely short search, I'm not finding anyone online that sells oil by the case.

So my questions are:
1. Where/Who do you buy your oil from?
2. What oil, and why?

Let's not open this to debate about which oil is better. Let's just share our personal experiences with oils. Please. :starwars:

Thanks,
Dave

From the shop because it's cheapest there.

Maxima Full Synth - because I can.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Most of the time I buy 1 gallon plastic bottles of Shell Rottella T in 15W-40 at the auto parts store up the street. It meets and\or exceeds all the specs and doesn't contain those friction modifiers that mess up the clutch.

People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

First of all what oli do you use? Try local batch plant, like Silco or Ashamera they can special order oil of almost any brand. Also try the local CO-OP store, if they carry gas. These will usually bring from warehouse to store and not charge shipping!

I order mine direct from Global (Revtech, Motor Factory,Belray, modal, respol etc) but they only sell wholesale.

I used to buy it from WalMart in the five quart containers. I ran Castrol GTX 10W-40 car oil because it was inexpensive and lasted about as long as the motorcycle specific oils according to oil analysis.

I now buy and run AMSOIL motorcycle oil. I just order it off their web site and cry a little.

I use castrol 20/50 in summer and 10/40 for winter use. Wally World or any auto store will have and will sell by case.

I should use rotella we have an 8,000 gallon tank at work.
