Is your List for Xmas big? And how are you doing?

Trying to think of gifts for yourself can be a fun exercise. Trying to firgure out what you're going to buy for those on
your "List" is always a bit tougher...

After much agonizing, I've given up on gifts for my daughters and their significant others, Visa gift cards will be
bought and sent. As for the little guy, I have a #3 soccerball and an extra increase to his bank account (I have an auto
deposit to his account every two weeks) and of course I'm stuck on anything else for him. You would have to
understand that with three of his grandparents living within a couple of minutes of his home, he is quite spoiled. This
distant Granddad has a tough time of it... Any ideas???

I know what you are saying D.Bar, getting gift for the young ones is a challenge at the best of time. I found that with my hordes of nieces and nephews, books are always a winner.

Off the top of my head my little guy loved his Hotwheels plastic trike (similar to the Big Wheel of the seventies). Is he about 2-1/2 y.o.? (It's kind of hard to tell from the pic)

Our kids (in particular our son) has been nagging us for quite some time to get some sort of a gaming unit. So... since we're too broke this year to do anything too significant with our money, we've decided to buy a PS2 as a family gift. Since knowing ahead of time sort of takes with wind out of the gift-giving sails, we drew each other's names from a hat to do an ornament exchange between the four of us. My mom bought each of the kids a game for the PS2, so that helps. And since I can't stand not getting the kids anything... we bought them each just one toy. So we're done.

We've toned down our gift giving a lot over the years. We used to go out of control, spending money we didn't even have. Nowadays, we focus on getting together with friends for potluck dinners, making baked goods for our neighbors - things like that.

Now, if there were children in our extended families, we would buy more kid stuff, but there just isn't. So it usually stays pretty simple for us.

Hey Dr. (pretty sure I'm responding to you this time ) I guess everyone has forgotten what all little boys like. In my experience, every little boy likes his toy cars, especially ones with push-button or motion activated sounds. And dinosaurs. Dinosaurs were the holy grail of gifts when I was younger. Then again, I had memorized the names, looks of, and stats of dinos that most of the adults I knew had never heard of...

I've bought... nothing. Mom's getting a 4gb pen drive (don't ask me why, she really wants one) and some extra girly "poo poo" from bath and body works. Like some basket thing. She doesn't care for it as much as she used to, but I'll just stick the drive in the middle of it. Semi-gag gift. Kinda lame compared to all the stuff I've gotten over the years, but she doesn't have the Jeep she wants yet. THEN it'll be easy to shop for her (yes, my mom would be rocking out in a Wrangler with a full system).

The neighboors are getting a case of beer and some vodka.
