Suzuki GS1100G Final Drive

#1 Unread post by gs1100g »

:( Has anyone had experience with the splines wearing out in the final drive of an 81-84 shaft drive Suzuki?

You're supposed to grease the splines whenever your putting the wheel back on. If someone forgot this step the splines will wear away quickly.

Better start looking for a parts bike.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

Always wear a helmet, eye protection, and protective clothing. Never ride under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Tks but, Indeed, but the last time they were greased with a high quality hig hpressure grease which in 20,000 Kms had turned to dust. The wear is on angle not square and this is why we have the problem. This is the second time the same problem has occurred. Frame is straight (checked by professionals) and alignment correct. with no freeplay in the connection wheel to diff, so its got us beat.
The worst problem is finding a new centre to install as they don't make them any longer. Duno if a VN1400 or VX800 (later years) will be the same and fit.
We progress on.
