Eye Opening Experience
Hey guys, I took my VStar 650 for it's 600 mile check-up today. While I was waiting for the bike I decided to sit on a couple Roadliners ( my dream bike) they had there. It was amazing how uncomfortable they felt. I mean these things felt HUGE!!!!!!!! Now keep in mind i had no intention of getting one at this point. I'm VERY happy with my little 650. I was just curious. You vets were right (not that I didn't belive you before this) I was absoloutly able to tell that i AM NOT ready for a bike this size, and it will be some time before I am. That's ok, I LOVE my 650!!!!!!!!!!!

This is why I always say LEARN TO RIDE BEFORE YOU BUY A BIKE!drrhythm39 wrote:Hey guys, I took my VStar 650 for it's 600 mile check-up today. When you sit on a motorcycle and have no knowledge of how to ride it, I think they all feel the same. It's kind of difficult to visualize how they will handle on the road.
After you learn to ride and understand the physics of motorcycles, then you sit on a large bike and it's like, "Wow... This Shadow Aero is... uh... pretty intimidating. Not like that 150cc dirtbike in the MSF class."
Now you know. Yes, it's an eye-opening experience indeed.

Why anyone would want a bar hopper, I just can't figure it out. Personally, I think Honda runed, (I know, ruined...) a perfectly good bike.RhadamYgg wrote:http://www.motorcyclecruiser.com/newsan ... to_01.html

I have the original Valkyrie and love it. I just love my Venture more... So the Valk is for sale, and I'm thoroughly enjoying the new ride...

Re: Dream Bike
Well, I can't afford any version of the Valkyrie - but I saw a great picture of the Valkyrie Rune in the Motorcycling Excellence book snad thought - that's what I'd like to ride. In researching the picture, I was actually surprised that a bike that looked like that would be a Honda.dr_bar wrote:Why anyone would want a bar hopper, I just can't figure it out. What defines a 'bar hopper'?

I sat on a Roadliner before and moved it around a bit. It is quite a pig but not as bad as those police Road Kings. Once you're moving it wouldn't be a problem but then comes the parking lot speed maneuvers.
I felt the same way moving up from a Suzuki GZ 250. I tried out a V-Star 650 Classic and felt it was quite big and heavy and opted for a Vulcan 500. When I had a brief stint with an SV650 that had more power and was lighter.
When I want a bike with a bigger engine I'm going for a sportier bike instead of an overgrown cruiser... a 1300 VTX is an exception.

Re: Dream Bike
I lived in Howell, right next to Freehold for 17 years. I never actually made it out to that dealership. They don't have the Rune's on their website, though. I would have felt compelled to go and see them if I had. And my wife would have bitched at me.jstark47 wrote:By the way, last summer Freehold Honda/Triumph (Freehold, NJ) had two Runes on the premises, one was NOS.RhadamYgg wrote:http://www.motorcyclecruiser.com/newsan ... to_01.html
