Thoughts on the new F800GS

As the title says, what do you guys think about it? Personally, I'd push the ninja off a cliff for one. I love the idea of a somewhat compact twin cylinder dual sport. It's not going to be lacking on the highway and it won't handle like a pig off the highway. Sure, the F650 would probably walk over it off road, and an XR650L would laugh in both their faces (I'll always be a honda fan boy  ), but I wouldn't want to take the XR more than an hour or two to get to some trails.

I, personally, would have to have it in yellow:

I didn't vote, 'cause:

If I could have only 1 bike (my current situation) I would have the RT or GS/GSA.

If I could have 2 bikes, one would be the F800GS and a heavy touring bike.

The 800GS looks great.

I picked the R1200GS/Adventure...

Bigger is better.

... When did you move to the US?

I'm sure the R1200GS is a GREAT long distance tourer, but if that's all you're doing I'd rather have something that's designed specifically for pavement. To me the F800GS IS the one bike I'd want in a single bike situation. Though I can definatly see the merits of the big bore super tourer over it. Two bikes... That would be the F800GS and something from the late 90's with 4 cylinders and no plastics (anymore) that looks like "poo poo", but goes like hell.

I think it's a great looking bike and probably a lot of fun. It is by far the best looking incarnation of the F800 series.

I certainly would not take it off road. An unpaved road or some flat dirt trails perhaps but certainly nothing tricky and technical with rocks and tree stumps.

By far the best of the 800 series... but still doesn't justify the price of the 800 series.
