ICON gear

#1 Unread post by pvo22 »

Looking at maybe getting the Icon Merc leather jacket and Icon Arc textile pants. Anyone have any experience with these or other Icon products? I've heard a rumor that Icon gear doesn't hold up that well and wanted some others' opinions or experiences before I spend a good chunk of money. Thanks. Also if anyone has some alternative choices or recommendations I am all ears.

I have found ICON gear to be very well made and durable. I have the Daytona Flat Track jacket and absolutely love it.

I think in their earlier days, the quality was low. I have their Super Duty pants and I think the styling and the quality is very good. They are cut very loose which I like. Their inseam is very long in relation to the waist size also.

I have the icon motorhead or something like that leather jacket. I really like it and it has great build quality. I was a bit leery on buying from them but it has been worth the cash I dropped.

My Icon Super Duty pants held up quite nicely when I locked up my front brake and launched off the bike. I like the pre-2008 versions, but I'm sure the newer ones would hold up as well.

I've also got a pair of the Arc pants. Haven't tested them out and don't want to, but they seem well made, and I like the armor in the knees. They're just not something I'd want to wear during summer, since they don't breathe at all.

I'm glad you were OK. Yeah the SD pants look to be very abrasion resistant. I wish they had optional knee armor for it. Then it would be almost the perfect riding pants.

This is why I'm getting a different pair of pants, no optional knee pads in any of the icon stuff :(

Yeah I also have a Joe Rocket Alter Ego overpants with armor. I love it. It's great in the winter with the inners installed. I wear it all year round to work over my dress slacks.

I do want a pants like the SD that almost looks like regular jeans or cargo pants for when I need to look stealth and blend in, but an optional armor insert would be nice.
