2002 honda silverwing 200 miles on it won't idle
Hello out there.. hope you experts are still there...I just bought a 2002 honda silverwing no abs..it had 41 miles on it and the dealer put in a new battery changed the oil and the final drive fluid and sent me on my happy way. Well took a long ride today with my daughter (15) and all was fine till i parked it used parking brake and kickstand was down....both will shut down the enging till disengaged...after finally releasing both it turned over fing but no startup..I had 2 bars on the gas guage..maybe 1/4 tank and i thought if i turn the throttle a bit it may start and it did bit died out.. then 3 more times of starting with partial throttle it ran but only if I didn't stop so we rode about 50 miles home (fouled plug should have cleared at least enough to idle) we were on the turnpike traveling appox 65-70 mph but got fresh gas and when we got home it died and now won't start without partial throttle there is no exposed engine parts on this (scooter) has anyone fixed this type of problem? any help would be appreciated. oh yes I forgot to mention the bike has no warranty since im the b title.

Wacked-out, first guess-wise....
Old gas in the tank created debris left laying low along the bottom of the tank. Running the fuel level down far enough to suck up some of this crud has partially clogged a jet/injector (not sure how a Silverwing is fueled).
Solution.... remove and clean the carb. On this machine, with all the mechanicals buried under the bodywork, you might be better off having a dealer do it. If you get lucky, you may be able to convince the dealer you bought from that they should have made sure the tank and fuel system were clean and have them make good on it free or at least cheap.
Of course, if the dealer really did do this already (how anybody could prove this without removing and inspecting the tank and carb is a good question) and it is not the real problem, none of this applies.....

No Witnesses....

WOW!! You guys and Gals ( if any) are the greatest! Thanks for the replies for starters (no pun intended) to answer one at a time..to (storysunfolding) the reason I won't return for my money back is the bike is orth a lot more than what I paid and even a few hundred more spent would keep me on the cheap side..although nickel and dimeing me to death would suck. thanks. To (HYPERR) the b title just means I'm the second owner...they go from (a) being the first to (z?) not sure how many reissues can be on a title. As far as I know, this applies to all titles so you can tell just how many hands your vehicle has passed thru before you got it. Hope this helps....if the title is issued as reconstructed the whole thing may start all over again...not sure though. To (BuzZz) and (Buzzard) here's where I am with the fix so far, I called the dealer and told him I suspected a clogged fuel filter ( whereever) it's hidden on the scooter and I wanted to have him help...he at first said ride it down and we'll look at it... and then he said hey.. before you go thru that try some dry-gas additive and call me back..so I've been working a lot and it's been raining off and on in Pittsburgh..I'm a sunshine rider and this bike is extremely clean and has been garage kept since the factory by the looks of it. I put in the dry gas and am waiting to try it out. Thanks a million I will post when I try it out..otherwise it's going back to the dealer for maybe a new fuel filter and/or tank drain and cleanout. Thanks again.

Hello everyone I fired up the Silverwing today and the dry-gas must have worked ..it is running good and starts with no extra throttle and idles fine with no hesitation...so thanks for the suggestions and I will keep checking in with you to try to share any experience I may have. Thanks a million.
