Stimulus check

#1 Unread post by Shorts »

Our stimulus check finally came in the mail. How exciting! Unfortunately, its not in the correct name!

They got DHs name right

Then they added a sweet little "&"

They got my first name right.

The got my middle initial right.

They got my last name wrong - they used my maiden name

So, anyone know the word on what I need to do? Can I just deposit the thing? I think if I informed them and waited, I won't get the damn check until next year!

I still need to check the income tax filed for this year and see if DH didn't screw up my name. I mean, really.

Shorts, at least you got check, all you should really need is an old ID or anything proving you maiden name. Actually I think they ignore names and use SS#. Your bank should be able to clear up,(might not cash but will probably let you deposit) I would check with them before anyone else, especially the IRS.

I keep hearing people getting theirs, but I haven't even gotten the letter. I actually had taxes done by April 15th this year and needed no extention. I file and pay taxes quarterly (estimated returns) could this be reason I have heard nothing?? My last name starts with a M but I know people that their last name starts with an S that have already gotten theirs.

Ha! It was DH! He used my wrong name on the previous return, then in turbo tax this year he carried over the same info. Wow, 2yrs in a row - how about that  lol

I think we'll try to gloss it over at the bank and DH will go in and deposit it. Try to stay as under the radar unless they get wise. Otherwise We'll drag in the miarriage certa, old IDs, SS card, etc etc

slim, our name is K and it just got here. Funny thing, we got the letter days ago stating we should expect check days past lol Uhhuh My sis got hers last week or two and her name is M. I don't know what's the hold up on these things.

ofblong, I think ours is going to help pay off a little debt we have left too. It was originally going towards our AU trip but somehow, we're ahead on finances and actually have that more or less paid off. There's got to be something we forgot to pay! lol

Most amusing....

I assume this is the check bush is writing to everyone to help liven up the economy. I wonder how many people will be using it to buy things as apposed to paying off debts

They're hoping that they spend it.
