Passed the MSF BRC!

#1 Unread post by SCgurl »

:D

It was the best weekend I've had in a long time. I spent a weekend out the the South Carolina summer heat, got sticky, sweaty, tired, sore, and sunburned, and loved every minute of it! I still have a lot of work to do, but I now feel fully qualified to go get an appropriate bike and practice in a parking lot. Now I know what to practice and how to practice it before getting tangled up in traffic.

Next stop-DMV for my permit! 8)

Congrats!

This point is the one most who decide not to take the MSF miss. The MSF, more than anything, teaches you what and how.

I ended up getting this helmet:

http://www.cyclegear.com/spgm.cfm?L1=1& ... tier2=3228

I must have tried on every helmet in the place. This was the only one that felt like it fit according to the fit guide, and even in the large I have chipmunk cheeks happening  I tried the Arais and Shoeis and the mediums felt like they were pinching my temples, while in the larges I could spin the helmet too easily from left to right.

It was also the "girliest" non-pink helmet they had :?

Now I just need a bike :frusty: I want to be back out on the course next weekend.

SCgurl, that's a nice looking helmet, similar look to my Z1R (which I hope doesn't mean mine is "girlie" looking! hehe

What kind of bike are you looking for? A small cruiser? If so, here's an alright deal on a VStar 650 in your area

I think "girly" is in the eyes of the beholder-so long as the colors pink, purple, and possibly turquoise is not involved

I have about 100 bookmarks for bikes on Craigslist for Charleston/Myrtle Beach/Florence/Columbia. I am certain I want something bigger than 250 and cruiser style.

I took the course on a Honda CB125 trainer and it was VERY underpowered for me. I did try the GZ250 and Virago 250 that thay had-and it still felt underpowered and cramped. I like Vstars, but they feel top-heavy to me. I really liked the Suzuki S40.

But I'm still looking and getting a feel on different bikes. I'm taking my time with it (and have fun with it). I'm also looking for a trailer so that I don't have to ride on the interstate to get to the MSF course during off-hours.

Haha, that's funny, I actually thought the VStar was very "low" weighted compared to some of the others I sat on. Of course, the one I ended up getting was lowered about 1.5" so that might have something to do with it!

Try to find someone that has a trailer that you can borrow, because in a couple weeks you are not going to want to be towing the bike, you're gonna wanna be RIDING it!

BTW, this is my helmet, not too girlie is it? hehe
