wait, rivits? what? those kinda hold the exhaust together last I checked. The REAL way to get more performance is to either get a faster bike, or buy an aftermarket exhaust. And get it tuned to match. And get good tires. And make sure your suspension is up to snuff and setup for your weight and riding style. And then you can change the intake, though that could be done with the exhaust. Maybe a quick turn throttle, though don't buy a kit, use a zip tie. Or 2.

I think they are referring to drilling holes in the exhaust?

maybe punching out the baffles? It would make it LOUDER and that'd make you THINK it's faster.

Yeah that's true.

However putting flame stickers on your bike is scientifically proven to make it faster ;)

So to sum it up for you gurl. The holes, if in the right location, would make it louder but not faster.

I drilled out the baffles on my KLX250S all the way to the end with a foot long 1/2" drill but it barely made any difference. It was a little throatier but barely louder.

Most bikes are running lean as is and drilling out your baffle may make it even run leaner.

I had already done the carb work and was waiting for my HMF pipe to come in so I was just messing around with the baffles in the meantime.

Well THEY were right. Drill those rivetts out and the baffles will rattle like mad inside your exhaust. It will be louder but I don't think a lot of rattle is what you are after. The response about the newer bikes running lean is correct and if you open the exhaust too much you will likely burn up either valves, pistons or both.

Unless you want it to sound like a Ducati with an open clutch cover....
